FAQ

What is the difference between mixing and mastering?

Mixing is the art of achieving a balanced volume between all the instruments, with careful attention paid to the spatial considerations of where instruments are placed in the mix (left/right, up/down, forward/back). Mastering is the art of polishing a mix for distribution, bring it up to industry standards most commonly through EQ, compression, and limiting.

What music editing and mastering software do I use?

I use both Apple Logic Pro X and Avid Pro Tools. I have many plugins installed, but I’m partial to the FabFilter and Waves plugins.

What is a travel recording studio?

I will bring the recording equipment to you, including mics and mic stands, cables, mixer/audio interface, and computer. I will NOT bring instruments, music stands, lighting, or video equipment (unless under special arrangement).
